 A  Dog of Flanders

Made in collaboration with Amos Kang, this mirror pulls thematic imagery from Ouida’s 1872 children’s novel, “A Dog of Flanders.” It is the tragic story of a young boy who fails to become a successful artist and subsequently dies, impoverished, of hypothermia. The book is particularly popular in South Korea and other East Asian countries, where it is often incorporated into children’s reading curricula. 

This project was made for Spy Projects’s 2023 exhibition, Mirror Show.
